About five years ago, I attempted to join a group called Team in Training. Team in Training is a fund raising organization of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. At the time, I’m sure my excuse seemed like a valid reason to fall short of my goal. Now it is time to put the excuses aside and finish the race I started. On October 10th, I will be running the Chicago Marathon in honor of several family and friends who have either lost, currently fighting, or have won the fight with cancer. Although, not all of these individuals were fighting Leukemia or Lymphoma, any help in the fight against cancer is a step in the right direction.
In addition to the Team in Training fund raiser, I would also like to raise money in support of the Adam Brown Memorial Fund. Adam is survived by his wife and two children. These funds will ensure his children have the means necessary to attend college when they are older.
Between the two projects, my goal is to raise $4000 by the 21st of September. As an incentive to donate, every $4 you contribute to the causes, your name will be entered into a raffle to win one of many gift cards. For example, you could win a $100 gift card to Walmart or a $25 dollar gift card to Applebee’s. I will keep everyone informed on my list of gift cards as the supporters grow.
Thank you for your support and please forward to anyone else who might be interested,

I returned home from my latest deployment in April with a new outlook on life. I don’t want to give the impression that life is going poorly. I am blessed in more ways than I deserve. On the contrary, I came home with the desire to give a little back. I credit my crew and the men and women we support for this new perspective. Specifically, a Navy Seal named Adam Brown.
On March 17th, my crew orbited overhead a very dangerous part of Afghanistan while a group of extremely brave American patriots continued to take the fight to the enemy in an effort to make the world a safer place to live. With shots fired on target, Chief Petty Officer Adam Brown made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. I landed my gunship that night, low on gas and ammo, with the desire to make sure Adam’s sacrifice wasn’t in vain.
